INSIDE BCA  

Brambleton Tennis Courts –  Scheduled maintenance work will be completed on Friday and the tennis courts will re-open on Saturday, October 21st.  For inquiries, please contact Dave Rusch

BCA 101 - October 26th, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM.  Drop by the Welcome Center for our next quarterly meet & greet. These sessions are informal and provide an opportunity for residents to stop in and meet staff, ask questions, and share suggestions.  

Save the Date - BCA's Annual Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14th at 7:00 PM at the Brambleton Corner Clubhouse.  Notice of the meeting will be mailed to all official owners and co-owners next week.

Brambleton’s Developer Continues to Perform Bond Release Activity throughout the Community - Work typically begins in the early morning and is complete by the early afternoon.  In addition to the ongoing development in the community, for the upcoming week, bond release activity may occur in the following sections (see site map for locations):

  • Creighton Road from Olympia Drive to Evergreen Mills
  • Northstar Blvd from Creighton Road to Shreveport Drive

Last Weekend for Kids Care Coat Drive! - Brambleton Kids Care is hosting a coat drive for Mobile Hope.  If you have any gently used coats to donate, you can drop them off at the Welcome Center in the Town Center.  Mobile Hope is in need of all sizes (biggest need: ages 2 – 8 years old).  
 
FREE Pet First Aid Basics and CPR Class – October 22nd from 4:00 PM -6:00 PM at the Brambleton Corner Clubhouse.  Dulles South Animal Emergency will be providing a free discussion on how to recognize an emergency situation for your pets along with a CPR Demonstration.  Register HERE

ZombieRun – There's still time to get your scare on!  Pre-register through Thursday, October 26 or at packet pick-up on Friday, October 27th at Lost Rhino between 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM or walk in on Race Day from 4:00 PM -5:00 PM in front of Lost Rhino.  More information here.

COMMUNITY


Pedestrians and Roadway Safety in Brambleton – Our office receives reports of concern from residents regarding pedestrians walking in the streets throughout Brambleton.  Residents report near accidents when encountering walkers, especially after dark or in low visibility conditions.  BCA encourages all residents to use caution.  Walking on roadways is discouraged; however, if it becomes necessary, the use of clothing or devices designed specifically to increase visibility is strongly encouraged.  VDOT provides additional pedestrian safety recommendations here.   

COMMUNITY STANDARDS

Manage Your Trash - Trash containers and recycling bins may be placed curbside no earlier than the evening before the scheduled pick-up day. All containers are to be removed and stored following the pick-up on the same day of the scheduled trash removal.
  
Tuesdays- Trash (from March - December, yard waste is also collected on Tuesdays).
Fridays- Trash, recycling, and scheduled bulk pick-ups are performed on Fridays.

TALK OF THE TOWN CENTER


Candy Buy Back Program - All donations will be provided to troops via Operation Gratitude.  Little Smiles and Costa Family Dentistry will buy your Halloween candy for $1 per pound, up to 10 pounds, from November 1 - 17. 

COUNTY CORNER


Arcola Annual VFD Open House - October 22, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM.  Stop by for fire engine rides, safety demos, health checks, pumpkin painting, and more.  Click here for more info.

Fall for the Book - Monday, October 23, at 7:00 PM Gum Spring Library Author Monica Bhide will discuss her book, an exploration of the human spirit set in contemporary India, seasoned with poetic verse and exotic food.

LCSO Dulles South Quarterly Station Meeting - Thursday, November 2nd at 7:00 PM, this meeting is open to the public and provides an opportunity for residents to discuss crime trends and community-related concerns with law enforcement.  Details here.   

COMMUNITY RESOURCES


Loudoun County is hosting an electronics recycling event - Saturday, October 21st from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM at the Leesburg Park and Ride, 19730 Sycolin Road, Leesburg, VA 20175.  Some fees apply for tv’s and computer monitors, and there is a limit of 15 items per vehicle.  See the here for items that will not be accepted and more information. 

Teen Self Defense Class - taught by Brambleton resident, 5th degree black belt.  Class includes intro on violent crime statistics, laws and terms, levels of threat, school environment, situational awareness, tactics, improvised weapons, interacting with police, and dealing with violence and hands-on techniques: strikes, maintaining minimum defensive distance, and 3 defensive techniques covering low and high threats.
