AROUND BRAMBLETON

INSIDE BCA

Movie on the Green Canceled - Tonight’s Movie on the Green event has been canceled due to weather. “Wonder” will instead be screened at the Neighborhood Campout on Saturday, September 15th at approximately 7 PM. Brambleton residents are welcome to attend this screening at no cost.

Loudoun County Election 2018 - The Loudoun County Office of Elections will bring a mobile office to the Brambleton Welcome Center on Friday, August 24th from 12 to 4 PM. This office will provide the same election services offered at the main office in Leesburg, including voter registration. View this flyer and visit www.loudoun.gov/vote for more information about voting in Loudoun County.

Helping Law Enforcement Help You - At the most recent meeting of BCA’s Safety & Security Committee, LCSO DFC Ryan Christman was present to provide an educational session to the committee regarding reporting suspicious activity and shared the following information:

  • The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office depends on residents to report suspicious persons or activities.
  • LCSO recognizes that some residents are reluctant to call the Sheriff’s Office because they are unaware of what activities should be considered suspicious, and that others may recognize suspicious activity and assume that someone else has already reported the matter.
  • All residents are encouraged to call immediately about any suspicious activity.
  • Suspicious activity is not related to a race, religion, or article of clothing; it is a behavior.
  • Do not worry about being a bother; it is LCSO’s job to investigate suspicious activity. Do not feel embarrassed or worry if you have misperceived an activity. Instead, think about what could happen if you do not call.

This document outlines activities that should be considered suspicious as well as what to expect when calling law enforcement. In an emergency, dial 911. For less urgent matters, call the non-emergency number at 703-777-1021.

COMMUNITY STANDARDS

Blocking Roadways for Play is Not Safe - BCA regularly receives concerns about community roadways being blocked off for play activity. The Association, VDOT, and Loudoun County do not condone street play and advise concerned residents to first approach the neighbors involved to directly resolve the concern. For unresolved concerns, we recommend contacting the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number (703-777-1021). Placement of personal "Children at Play" signs in roadways or common areas is also discouraged, as these signs have been shown to create a false sense of security.

Commercial Vehicles - BCA would like to remind residents that parking commercial vehicles in a visible location within Brambleton, other than on a temporary and non-recurring basis, is not permitted, per our Vehicle Policy Resolution and our Declaration (Article 8.2 (n) Vehicles). Additional information on Parking Commercial Vehicles in Residential Zones can be found through Loudoun County here. If you have any questions, please contact communitystandards@brambleton.org.

Do You Own a Portable Basketball Hoop? - Recent inspections have noted that several basketball hoop bases are being weighted down with improper materials and are not being stored in the proper locations. Please review the placement and stabilization guidelines, and please contact communitystandards@brambleton.org with any questions.
