AROUND BRAMBLETON

INSIDE BCA

Deadline for Nominating Petitions is 10/5 at 5 PM for BCA Board 2018 Election - BCA is seeking candidates for two seats on its Board of Directors that will be filled in this fall’s election. Residents who have served on an Association committee or other board position or have an interest in serving the community typically make great candidates for a HOA board position. Specific requirements and duties for Board Members can be found in the Association’s governing documents available here. For a nominating petition and the election timeline, please visit our election page. If you have questions pertaining to the open board positions or the election itself, please contact General Manager, Rick Stone: rick.stone@brambleton.org.

BCA Board Special Meeting on Tuesday, 10/16 The BCA Board will host a Special Meeting on Tuesday, October 16th at 7 PM at the Corner Clubhouse for the purpose of receiving the Ad Hoc Technology Committee’s recommendations and hearing resident input. The Committee has been working for over a year to develop recommendations to the Board regarding BCA’s bulk agreement for internet and cable television programming. The Committee will present their recommendations to the Board at this meeting. The Board will also hear resident input on the Committee's recommendations at this meeting. If you have questions about the meeting or need assistance to participate, please contact Rosemarie Linder, staff liaison to the Committee, at rosemarie.linder@brambleton.org.

BCA Bus Tour - Join us tomorrow, September 29th from 9 AM to 10:30 AM for a guided bus tour of everything that Brambleton has to offer! Learn about the history, services, and activities of Brambleton as we traverse the community. A maximum of 24 people can participate in this tour. Click here to sign up.

Dead Tree Removal - The Brambleton community and the East Coast continue to be impacted by the emerald ash borer (EAB). The Association will be removing dead or partially dead ash trees on maintained common areas throughout the community. Dead and hazardous trees in natural common areas will also be addressed. The Association currently has a contractor removing dead or partially dead ash trees in Legacy Park.

Mowing & Edging - Due to heavy rainfall this week, our contractor has adjusted their mowing schedule, resulting in reduced mowing and taller grass. The contractor feels it is critical to reduce mowing to preserve the turf’s root masses. They will be spot mowing flat and preservation areas. They plan to return to a regular mowing schedule for common areas and townhomes next week. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we deal with recent weather conditions.

CivicPlus/AOL Email Update - The issue between CivicPlus, our website and messaging platform, and AOL regarding the blocking of email messages, such as our Friday Flash and Notify Me messages, has been temporarily resolved. CivicPlus and AOL are still working towards a permanent solution. In the interim, @aol.com email users may want to subscribe with an alternate email address and/or read the Friday Flash on our Facebook page or on our website. We will be sure to provide any updates as we receive them from CivicPlus. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

COMMUNITY STANDARDS

Signage Guidelines - BCA would like to remind residents about the Design Guidelines for Temporary Signage within the community:

  • Signs are to be selected, designed, and located to provide effective communication while minimizing their visual impact on neighboring properties and the neighborhood. Placement of signs on common areas or rights of way is not permitted.
  • Political Signs: Two political signs, no larger than 2’x 2’, may be posted on a residential lot. Signs may be posted up to 30 days prior to a pending election and must be removed within five days following the election.
  • Signs shall not obstruct any traffic sight lines.

Click here for the full guidelines text. Contact communitystandards@brambleton.org if you have questions or need more information.

Post-Approval Inspections - Staff regularly inspects approved modifications to confirm that they were constructed as approved, completed, or started. Approvals from the Covenants Committee are valid for one year. For example, if you have applied for a deck in September 2018, then you have six months to begin construction of the deck and 12 months to complete the deck. If you make a modification to the original plan, you will need to submit a new design review application prior to continuing the project. If you have any questions regarding these or any inspections, please contact your advisor at designreview@brambleton.org or 703-542-6263.
